MT. RAINIER SPRING 2017

APRIL 14, 2017

ORANGE GROVE DANCE CREATES a NEXTLOOK RESidENCY AT JOE'S MOVEMENT EMPORIUM

This performance was the result of 8 weeks of trekking the streets, neighborhoods, parks, businesses, and homes all within a 1 MILE RADIUS of Joe's Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier, Maryland. We continue to be moved and grateful for the welcoming and vibrant community we encountered during this process. With our creative team hundreds of hours of footage (both sound and video) was gathered for the projects research and was distilled into a single performance installation both in the theatre of JME and on the streets of Mt. Rainier. The performance ultimately culminated at Brentwood Arts Exchange. The live performance and installation merely served as a snapshot reflecting our experience during the residency and the artifacts found here contain information not just from the performance but additional materials from the overall process as well.

GOING OUT GUIDE WASHINGTON POST

1 Mile Radius Project was featured on the cover of the 'Going Out Guide' of the Washington Post.

An interactive dance and film experience put on by Orange Grove Dance, The 1 Mile Radius Project sought to open our minds to all of the splendor we might take for granted within our own “one mile radius.”

The interactive experience was enthralling and innovative, a well executed idea that will leave a lasting imprint on my memory. I have high hopes for this project and what it could accomplish in the future.
